How to submit a letter to the editor:

The Hartford Courant welcomes your letters to the editor. Please email them to letters@courant.com.

We encourage a diversity of voices and perspectives in our letters that either refer to an article that has appeared within the last seven days or are relevant to local and/or national conversation.

Letters should be exclusive to The Hartford Courant and no more than 250 words. To be considered for publication, submissions must include the writer’s full name, hometown and phone number. Writers ordinarily will be limited to one published letter every two months.

Unfortunately, due to the number of submissions we receive daily, we cannot acknowledge unpublished letters other than by an automated email reply. If your letter is selected for publication, you will be notified beforehand. The editorial staff retains the right to edit and shorten letters for length, clarity, or to conform to newspaper style rules.

What we won’t publish:

– Open letters

– Anonymous letters

– Third-party letters

– Press releases

– Promotional materials

– Any form of harassment or personal attack (bullying, trolling, name-calling)

– Unverifiable information (We will fact-check all letters, but we do appreciate it when writers tell us where they get their facts from. That can be in a P.S. at the bottom of the letter.)
