William S. Nappo OBITUARY

William S. Nappo (Billy) of Avon, passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2024 after a courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure. He was born on May 25, 1938, the son of the late V. William and Mildred (Lazzaro) Nappo in Buffalo, NY. He was predeceased by four sisters, Shirley Barris, Mary Nappo, Diane Johnson, Carmella Tampio and his brother, Frank Nappo. Bill grew up in Silver Creek, NY where he attended Silver Creek High School and played football, basketball and golf which became a well-known pleasure of his for over 60 years. He joined the USMC in 1956 and was stationed in Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He loved the Marine Corps and always remained proud to be a former Marine. In 1961 he graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY and joined Dunn & Bradstreet as a Financial Analyst. In 1963 Bill began a 25 year career with Mobil Oil beginning as a Field Representative and ending as National Distillate Manager at the time of his retirement. In 1987 he began his second career and started his own Oil Company in New York which consisted of 4 Gasoline Terminals and operated 50 Gas Stations in the NY Tri-State area. Bill had a passion for golf and was a member of Avon Country Club for 25 years where he developed many special friendships over the years. He also enjoyed skiing, reading, and was a huge Buffalo Bills fan. Bill loved socializing with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and rarely said no to an invitation. He truly lived life to the. fullest. Bill’s family and friends remember him as the life of the party. He had a natural magnetism that drew people toward him everywhere he went. He was kind, generous, funny, and a force of nature. Those who knew him, no matter how briefly their paths crossed, were truly blessed. He will be deeply missed forever. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Karen (Chaponis) Nappo; two sons, William K. Nappo and wife Lisa of Housatonic, MA and Gregory C. Nappo and his wife Patricia of Madison, CT; daughter, Jennifer Merritt of Glastonbury, CT; seven grandchildren, Willy & Teddy Nappo, Gregory, Andrew and Jackie Nappo and Caroline & Christopher Merritt; two great grandchildren, Noa & Ruby Nappo. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews including his nephew Bobby Barris who was like another son to him. Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, 4:00-7:00PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, 06001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 12, 2024, 11:00AM, at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 145 Main Street, Unionville, 06085.
