Stephen Lee Jager OBITUARY

Stephen Lee Jager, 70, of Enfield, beloved husband for 30 years of Siobhan (Scalley) Jager, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at his home with his wife and daughters by his side. Born in Hartford on December 1, 1953, son of the late Adam A. and Anne M. (Zebney) Jager, he was raised in Windsor and was a graduate of Windsor High School, Class of 1972.

After high school, Stephen continued his education at the University of Miami in Florida where he studied Architecture. After a year, Stephen decided to leave the Florida heat and transferred to Miami University in Oxford, OH where he graduated with a degree in Architecture in 1980.

He graduated and moved to Vermont for a short time before returning to Connecticut. He worked in Windsor for several years with his mentor, John N. Eberle and corporation RGvD (1979-1984) before taking a position with First Financial Building, Corp (1985-1995) in Hartford, where he designed banks all over the Northeast. After several years, Stephen wanted to work on a greater variety of projects and he took a position with Jeter, Cook and Jepson Architects, Inc. (1996 – 2008) and Fletcher Thompson (2008-2012) in Hartford, designing commercial buildings and casinos throughout the United States. He later started his own firm, Stephen Jager Associates, LLC, where he focused on commercial and residential architecture and structural and interior design. Stephen loved working with his many clients who often referred to him as creative, loyal, and patient. His clients frequently became his friends and clients for life. From office buildings, to stores, to home additions, his architectural fingerprints are all over Enfield and the surrounding areas. If you are reading this in Enfield, you’ve probably seen or walked inside a building he designed. He was especially generous with his friends, neighbors, and family, helping them with everything from simple renovations to designing the home of their dreams. He was passionate about his work and loved sharing his knowledge and expertise with his wife and daughters which had a lasting impact on them and their appreciation for design.

In his spare time, Stephen enjoyed golfing, watching golf, and spending time with his friends and clients at Topstone Golf Course in South Windsor, where he was a member for many years. As a younger man, he enjoyed playing soccer and even married his wife, Siobhan, after a tournament game on the soccer field on Sunday, June 25, 1995. Stephen loved nature and staying active. He was an avid hiker, skier, and cyclist. During the spring and summer months, he looked forward to working in his yard and spent many hours tending to the flower gardens around his home.

Most of all, Stephen will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife and daughters around the world. Stephen was an immense Disney fan and member of the Disney Vacation Club for many years. Stephen visited Florida at least once a year, vacationing at Disney World more than 30 times. After his cancer diagnosis eight years ago, Stephen took as many trips as he could visiting Hawaii, Los Angeles, Boston, New York City, Ireland, Colorado, San Francisco, Chicago, Vermont, North Carolina, and of course Florida.

Stephen was thoughtful and loving to the three most important people in his life, his wife and his two daughters. He never complained, was thoughtful and kind, and never missed an important occasion. He lovingly purchased Pandora charms for each of them every year, and loved sharing with his other family members and friends about their activities and accomplishments.

In addition to his loving wife Siobhan, he leaves two daughters, Ashley M. Lytwyn and her husband Graham Stinnett of Pasadena, CA, and Erin B. Lytwyn and her husband Daniel Walker-Murray of London, England; three grandchildren whom he cherished, Audrey and Lachlan Stinnett, and Charlotte J. Walker-Murray; a sister, Holly Jager of Windsor and her partner Thomas Germain; a brother, Michael Jager and his wife Dr. Agnes Czibulka of Guilford, CT; two nephews, Aaron Jager and his wife Diane of Oxford, CT, and Jake Jager and his wife Lily Jager; and two nieces Viktoria Zoltay and Briggitta Carr. Stephen is predeceased by his sister, Patricia Anne.

His family will receive friends on Friday, July 12, 4-6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m., in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
