Marilyn “Lynn” B. Roberts, 89, died on Sunday, June 9, 2024, in West Hartford, CT. Lynn was born on September 27, 1934, in Hartford and graduated from Hartford High School and the University of Connecticut. Lynn retired from Aetna Life & Casualty in 1991, having returned to work after raising her children.

Lynn is survived by her sons, Richard Roberts (Barbara) of West Hartford and William Roberts of West Hartford; her six grandchildren, Brendan Roberts (Mirna) of New Britain, CT, David Mello (Emily) of Newington, CT, Alicia Caiazzi (Bret) of Brunswick, ME, John Roberts of Philadelphia, PA, Laura Roberts of Philadelphia, PA, Erin Roberts of Hurricane, WV; and her great-grandson, Calvin Caiazzi of Brunswick, ME. Lynn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard “Dick” J. Roberts of West Hartford; her one daughter, Carol Mello of Simsbury; and her dearest older sister, Margaret “Peg” Walker of Florida. Lynn also leaves her son-in-law, David Mello of Simsbury; her sister-in-law, Judith “Judy” Roberts of West Hartford; nine nieces and one nephew.

Lynn loved to travel and visited her 50th state in 2019. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing in her bridge group, celebrating springtime by gardening and was always up for a tough trivia question. Time with family was her most treasured time, especially hosting family gatherings as often as possible and just being together with her husband watching their grandchildren grow. The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Brookfield Chatfield for the loving care they provided Lynn during her time with them.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 19, from 5pm to 7pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. Burial services will be private. Contributions in Lynn’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
