Gloria Jean Montgomery OBITUARY

Evangelist Gloria J. (Burney) Montgomery beloved wife of Pastor Willie C. Montgomery, passed away on June 7, 2024, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Kinston, NC on Nov. 7, 1945, to the late Johnson and Lucille (Dunn) Burney. She was raised in North Carolina and attended Jones and Lenoir County Schools. After high school, Gloria moved to Boston and worked as a nursing assistant at. She relocated to Hartford, CT where she met the love of her life, Willie while they were both working at The Tobacco Valley Inn in Windsor CT. She opened RCM Hair Salon on New Britain Ave. in Hartford and co-founded and established, along with her husband, Pentecost Deliverance Christian Center, Mather St. Hartford, CT.

She dedicated her life to family, church and community. Her spiritual outreach touched many lives as she loved God and believed in reaching out to anyone who needed healing in any area of their lives.

She leaves to mourn her husband of 56 years, Pastor Willie C. Montgomery, her beloved daughter, Tonya N. Montgomery, her siblings Deloris Savage, Kinston, NC, Lyndia F. Riley, Hartford, CT. and Keith Burney (Lavonne), Mt. Pleasant, SC., a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Reginald C. Montgomery, three brothers, Landon O., Johnson Jr. and Larry D. Burney and two sisters, Minnie L. Murrell and Barbara A. Thompson.
