Giuseppe “Joe” DiMauro OBITUARY

Giuseppe (Joe) DiMauro, 86, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born November 29, 1937, in Melilli, Sicily and lived most of his adult life in Middletown, CT. Joe was married to his loving and devoted wife, Lucia (Bruno), on June 3rd, 1965, and they made their home in Middletown for the 59 years they were together before his passing. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by their two children: Carmela Lombardo and her husband Timothy of Middletown, CT; and Vincenzo DiMauro and his wife Lisa Serra-DiMauro of Los Angeles, CA. He also took great pride in his 6 grandchildren Andrew, Stephen and Matthew Lombardo of Middletown, CT; Conrad, Penelope and Millie DiMauro of Los Angeles, CA. He was the son of the late Vincenzo and Carmelina (Fazzino) DiMauro. Joe worked for a number of employers over his lifetime but was most proud of his time at General Motors New Departure, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Colt’s Manufacturing. He is survived by sister-in-law Concettina Scianna and brother-in-law Gerald Guarino. He was predeceased by his sisters Rose (Frank) Fazzino, Concetta (Sebastiano) Milardo and Lucia Guarino and brother-in-law Luigi Scianna. Joe was a member of St. Sebastian Church and the Italian Society of Middletown. He found joy working in his garden every spring and summer raising close to 100 tomato plants in addition to peppers, squash, cucumbers, basil and parsley. He also enjoyed making wine, having his family press the grapes as he supervised. He would spend time in the kitchen making sauce and meatballs with his wife and daughter and at holidays would be with his son making food for Christmas Eve. He also loved making homemade ricotta and sausage which everyone in the family loved. When relaxing he could be found watching videos of or listening to Luciano Pavarotti. Joe’s family would like to thank the staff at Masonicare and Midstate Medical Center for the outstanding care and compassion that they showed him over the past few months. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday July 11th at St. Sebastian Church in Middletown, CT. Joe’s burial will immediately follow the liturgy at St. Sebastian’s Cemetery on Peters Ln. in Middlefield. Calling hours will be from 5PM-7PM on Wednesday July 10th at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.
