Fenmore Feigenbaum OBITUARY

Fenmore Feigenbaum, 98, of New Britain, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on June 29th surrounded by his loving family, a month shy of his 99th birthday. Born in New Britain, on August 1, 1925, Fenmore was the child of the late Max and Miriam Feigenbaum and younger brother of the late Sylvia Feigenbaum. He is predeceased by his best friend and beloved wife of over 70 years, Gladys, and their son Daniel. Fen graduated from New Britain High School and Bryant College. He enlisted in the Navy and proudly served as a Seabee during World War II in the Pacific. The patriarch of his family, Fenmore, is survived by his children: Seth and Betty Feigenbaum of Farmington, Ira and Deborah Feigenbaum of Old Lyme, and Sara and David Miller of Bedford, MA. He is also survived by ten cherished grandchildren, their spouses, and seven great-grandchildren, who he loved deeply: Tamar Levine (Jason, Orli, Ayal, Gila), Dana Jackson (Kyle, Taytum, Teagan), Talia Miller, Miriam Baruch (Mark, Gavriel, Ezra), Max Feigenbaum, Kayla Miller, Asher Feigenbaum (Anna), Raphael Feigenbaum (Elisheva), Avi Miller (Monét), and Maya Feigenbaum. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Clive Pinsker (Marjorie) and niece Sandy Silver (Paul). He is predeceased by his sister-in-law Joyce Fein (Robert). Fenmore was extremely dedicated and hardworking, and spent his career at Feigenbaum & Nair Scrap Metal Recycling, where he was President and worked with his son Ira for more than 40 years. He was interacting with customers until the very end. He was passionate about giving back to the community and was especially committed to Congregation Tephereth Israel (New Britain), Beth Alom Cemetery, and Jewish War Veterans. He enjoyed exploring every continent with Gladys, and they shared their love of travel with their family on cruises, even cruising as recently as last year at the age of 97. He will always be remembered for his love for humor and his ability to connect with anyone – whether at a restaurant, the YMCA, or the bank. One of his favorite places was Old Colony Beach, where he spent every summer. He was cared for over the past 4 years by his loving aides: Olga, Victoria, Marcus and Donna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fenmore and Gladys Feigenbaum Family Jewish Community Foundation Fund (333 Bloomfield Ave, West Hartford CT 06117).
