David D. Mahar OBITUARY

David Drew Mahar, born on January 3, 1941, in Hartford, passed away at the age of 83 on June 7, 2024, in Newington. David was a beacon of joy and kindness, always ready with a smile and a warm word, uplifting everyone around him. He was deeply committed to his faith, family, and friends, touching the lives of many with his generosity and spirit.

David graduated from William H. Hall High School in 1961 and went on to serve in the Army National Guard, where he embraced the discipline and camaraderie that military life offered. Following his service, he built a successful career at Arthur Andersen in Hartford, where his dedication and work ethic were highly valued. Following his retirement, David proudly dedicated several years to volunteering at St. Francis Hospital, where he had worked in his youth and felt a deep connection, prompting his return.

A devout member of St. Brigid Church in West Hartford, David was actively involved in church activities and served his community with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life. He also found joy in weightlifting and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, contributing to their missions and community service efforts.

David is survived by his nephews, Douglas and Spencer Mahar; his grand-nephews, Pacey and Charlie Mahar. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Mahar, and his parents, Edmond John Mahar and Anne Leahy Mahar.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, (June 27), at St. Brigid Church, 1083 New Britain Ave, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Brigid Church, 1088 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, CT 06110.
