Caroline W. Berrettini OBITUARY

Caroline W. Berrettini, 59, formerly of Dixon, IL, made her final transition on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at her home in West Hartford, CT.

Caroline was born on July 17, 1964, in Lasalle, IL, and graduated from Dixon High School. She was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, class of 1986, and continued her education at the Marshall-­Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary, class of 1993. After an honorable career in multiple roles as a paralegal and an attorney in Washington D.C. and in Illinois, she pursued her passion at the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, CA, graduating in 2000. She spent the remainder of her career as a certified gemologist and appraiser, eventually incorporating her own company in 2016 where she contracted appraisal services with New England Gemological Laboratory and Appraisal Services.

Caroline had a deep love for her son, JP, and her alma mater, Notre Dame. She was a devoted mother, aunt, and friend who committed her life to ensuring those around her would be happy, healthy, and in the best position to pursue their dreams as she did.

Caroline is survived by her son, JP Berrettini of Warren, RI; her sister, Maureen Cramer of Bonita Springs, FL; her brothers, Mark (Marcelle) Berrettini of Portland, OR, Paul (Katie) Berrettini of Granger, IN; her nieces, Caitlin Cramer of Babcock Ranch, FL, and Margaret “Mia” Berrettini of Granger, IN; her nephews, Nicholas, James, and Louis Berrettini of Granger, IN; her great-nephews, Declan and Maddox Birky of Babcock Ranch, FL; her uncle, James (Gwen) Walsh of Washington, D.C.; her aunt, Elizabeth “Betty” Cain of Dixon, IL; and her cousins, Bridget (Stuart) Walsh, James (Christina) Walsh, Carolyn (Mark) Rusk, David (Marlene) Cain, Mary (Randy) Weatherly, Patricia (Terry) Kemp, Paul (Kelly) Cain, and Terry (Michelle) Cain.

Caroline is preceded in death by her birth mother, Carol Koss Walsh; her parents, Paul and Jane Berrettini; her nephew, Andrew “Drew” Berrettini; and her grandparents, James and Margaret Walsh; Louis and Caroline Berrettini; and Elizabeth Berrettini.

To commemorate her incredible journey and to celebrate the love that she spread, a Funeral Service will be held at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, (June 21). Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman. A private entombment will take place at the Cedar Grove Cemetery on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
