Barbara Beavers Bridges OBITUARY

Barbara Beavers (Bedford) Bridges, 98, of Avon, wife of the late Albert R. Bridges, died Friday, June 28, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. She was born October 13, 1925 in Hartford, daughter of the late Raymond Francis and Mary (Freeburn) Bedford and had lived in Avon for over 70 years. Mrs. Bridges was a Food Services Employee for Avon Public Schools for many years prior to her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Avon Congregational Church and offered support to the Junior Choir when they performed special musical programs. Always supportive of the many school events her children participated in. Barbara enjoyed spending time knitting and doing needlepoint and was an avid fan of UCONN Women’s Basketball and loved to watch birds. She was an avid reader, reading over three books a week. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, as well as knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her children, Albert R. Bridges, II and wife Beverly of East Otis, MA, Nancy Tomaszewski and husband Richard of Port St. Lucie, FL, Donna Miller and husband William of Southington and William Bridges and wife Rebecca of Torrington; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Bedford and sister Joan Sullivan.

Her family will receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Monday, July 8th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon closing with a celebration of her life at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery.
