Angela Lovell OBITUARY

Angela Sarli Lovell, a longtime resident of Bloomfield, passed on June 17, 2024, a month shy of her 94th birthday. Angela was born to Maria (Manzi) and Battista Sarli in Worcester Massachusetts on July 17th, 1930. She grew up on Merrifield Street in Worcester and graduated from North High School and then went on to attend Salter Secretarial School. In 1955 she married John Stanley Lovell, they were happily married for almost 70 years. Angela’s Italian family stressed the importance of education and work. She was very proud to hold jobs outside of the home from the time she was a teenager until she retired from Connecticut General, now Cigna, in the early 80s. In their retirement Angela and her husband traveled throughout Europe and the USA before becoming snowbirds, spending many happy winters in Vero Beach, Florida. Angela had many interests including gardening, sailing, quilting and tap dancing. Her greatest joy came from preparing wonderful meals for her family and friends; no one ever went hungry when she was in the kitchen. She also enjoyed frequent trips to New York City to see Broadway shows, visit museums, and take her grandchildren out to McDonalds. She is predeceased by her parents, older brother Vito Joseph Sarli and her beloved husband John Stanley Lovell. Angela leaves behind her daughter, Laura Lovell Sanford of New York City, and her husband Steve, sons Michael of Croydon, NH, and his wife Marie-Laure and John of Charleston S.C., her adored grandchildren Emily and her husband Gabriel, Thomas and his wife Emily, and great grandchildren Mary Rowan, John, and Charlotte. She also leaves behind her brothers Bart and Joseph Sarli and their families. A memorial will be planned for a later date to celebrate her life.
