A missing Stamford man was found dead in a wooded area in New Canaan early Tuesday.

The man, identified as Santos Eujedo Perez, had been last seen working on Monday afternoon at a house that was being renovated in New Canaan, according to Lt. Marc J. DeFelice of the New Canaan Police Department.

Authorities with the Stamford Police Department reached out to New Canaan police in the late evening hours Monday to assist with their missing person investigation based on the last known whereabouts of the Perez, DeFelice said.

Just after midnight on Tuesday, authorities located Perez in a specified wooded area, according to DeFelice. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from Norwalk Hospital.

Connecticut State Police are assisting investigators from New Canaan with the investigation. DeFelice said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has also been notified.

“The investigation is ongoing and at this time there is no indication of foul play,” DeFelice said. “There is no danger to the community.”
