Debate a shame for Americans

After watching the presidential debate between Trump and Biden, I believe it was the first time in American history of a very ugly uncivil debate between the candidates. Having been two times impeached and 34 guilty verdicts,Trump shouldn’t be even allowed to have a candidacy. The slinging attacks with lies from Trump shows that there is no respect or dignity in his mind for American democracy.  It is a shame that commentators state that Biden must exit race because of his age.

As a veteran of the Cold War time, I hope the American voters will do the right thing.

Way for Biden to win in November

The presidential debate was a disaster for both candidates and for America. On the one hand, we had an incumbent president who was rattled, confused, and stumbling through the ordeal; on the other, we had a convicted felon who told lie after lie, and sadly, those lies were believed by all of his constituents who also rejoiced at Biden’s ineptitude.

At this point in the campaign, many voters are upset with Biden, not for his poor performance, but because it appears he is handing the election to Trump by staying in the race. Many voters do not want to vote for Trump because of the person he is, but with the disastrous performance of Biden at the debate, they will vote based upon the lesser of two evils.

The consensus of American pundits is that Biden lost votes for his lackluster performance. How many votes he lost will only be known after the November election. But there is a sure way for Biden to stay in the race, and win. In the eyes of voters, the two weakest points are the following: the man himself. Is he too old, does he have dementia, is he totally out of it? The second point is his vice president. Many voters are worried that if and when Biden cannot fulfill his term, either this one or the next, the very unpopular Kamala Harris would replace him.

For Biden to stay in this race and win the election, it should quietly be announced that Kamala Harris has chosen not to run as his running mate. Instead, Biden could choose someone who is less disliked: Gavin Newsom, Wes Moore, JB Pritzker, and Gretchen Whitmer come to mind. With one of those as his running mate, many voters just might decide that if something happens to Biden, the country would be in good hands with his successor. This action would remove the Harris curse and allows Biden to garner support regardless of his poor performance in the debate.
