The Mediterranean-inspired restaurant CAVA has opened a new eatery in Connecticut.

“Our mission is to bring heart, health, and humanity to food, and everything we do at CAVA is grounded in that spirit of generosity, to our guests, our team members, and our community,” said CAVA official Wade Sterns. “We couldn’t be more excited to be in Newington.”

The restaurant is located at 3323 Berlin Turnpike, Unit 4, Newington.

The restaurant is a fast/casual one that serves Mediterranean-inspired bowls, pitas, dips, and dressings “that helps people eat well and live well,” according to the company.

They also put an emphasis on hospitality and serving others, according to the company.

Before the doors officially open, every CAVA restaurant invites their new neighbors to the table for a free meal, accepts donations to support a local cause, and matches those donations up to $1,000, according to the company.

Since 2019, the companywide Community Day program has raised more than $500,000 in donations, mostly put toward food security in local communities, the company said in a statement.

CAVA’s Newington Community Day event raised funds for Food Rescue US, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating hunger and food waste, according to the company statement.

Before the grand opening, CAVA also partnered with Food Rescue US to donate hundreds of fresh meals prepared throughout the restaurant’s training period to local community members, according to the company.

CAVA’s Newington restaurant will employ 30-35 local people.

“The company hires people for their hospitality and warmth and is dedicated to creating career pathways for its team members,” the company noted in the statement. “Our brand and our opportunity transcend the Mediterranean category to compete in the large and growing limited-service restaurant sector as well as the health and wellness food category.”
