A Connecticut pediatrician has been arrested and charged in connection with a reported sexual assault.

On May 2, the Norwich Police Department received a complaint regarding a sexual assault. An investigation led to the development of probable cause for the arrest of Dr. Ravi Prakash, according to police.

Prakash is a pediatrician at Prakash Pediatrics in Norwich. According to the practice’s website, he has 27 years of experience in pediatric practice, “including 20 years caring for children here in Norwich.”

An arrest warrant was applied for and granted on charges of fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, police said.

On June 28, the 61-year-old doctor arrived at Norwich police headquarters to turn himself in. He was placed under arrest and processed, according to police.

Prakash posted a $50,000 court-set bond and was released from custody. He is scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on July 11.
