With schools out, a Connecticut nonprofit is taking on childhood hunger this summer, according to a release.
The Community Renewal Team is participating in the federally funded Summer Food Service Program to help deliver an expected 35,000 meals to children in need each weekday, per a release.
There are 10 locations the team will be serving from at locations in Hartford, Enfield, Glastonbury and Windsor Locks, according to a release. Under the program, nutritious meals including breakfast and or lunch will be provided free of charge.

Many locations begin service in June, with four additional sites opening up in July, per the team. Service will continue through late July to late August, depending on location.
