Police Wednesday identified the woman who was killed in a head-on collision with a dump truck in Glastonbury on Friday morning, police said.

Police said Christine Sawamura, 56, of Manchester, was the operator of the vehicle and was killed in the crash.

There is no additional information to release at this time, police said Wednesday.

Members of the Glastonbury Police Department, Glastonbury Volunteer Fire Department, Glastonbury EMS and Ambulance Service of Manchester responded to the reported head-on motor vehicle crash on Keeney Street between Old Reservoir Road and Woodfield Crossing around 10:36 a.m. on Friday, according to Lt. Kevin Szydlo of the Glastonbury Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a sedan traveling north on Keeney Street reportedly crossed the center line and struck a dump truck/trailer combination head on. The sedan driver, a woman who police did not identify at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene, Szydlo said.

The dump truck driver was not injured, according to Szydlo.

Personnel from the Metro Traffic Services regional reconstruction team, Connecticut State Police Traffic Unit and Glastonbury Police Department Traffic Unit responded to process the scene.

Identification of the woman was initially being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Szydlo said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Agent Sue Jobes at 860-633-8301.
