The new season brings an all-new infield to the Griswold baseball team.
Head coach Mike Jamieson lost five players to graduation, including four infielders, from the squad that posted Griswold’s first winning season in a decade, tied for the ECC division title, and made it to the ECC semifinals before losing to Waterford. “
We miss our seniors from last year, especially their competitive approach in practice,” he said.
This year’s squad includes senior starting pitcher and shortstop Nick Gileau; 2018 All-Division player Zach Longiel, also a senior, in center field; promising hitters CJ Mattson and Andrew Koziel, both juniors; and senior catcher and first baseman Jason Hall.
“The season could go a couple of different ways,” said Jamieson of his squad. “It’s up to them if they practice every day. Hopefully we can throw and catch the way we need to.”
