Who We Are
Council for the Homeless (CFTH) leads the Clark County Severe Weather Task Force to ensure the safety of our unhoused neighbors during severe weather events. This work collaborates closely with many local agencies and governmental organizations. Council for the Homeless is the Clark County coordinating agency of the Homeless Response System, which includes calling for severe weather in the county for our unhoused community. Coordinating severe weather response is done through partnering with community warming and cooling shelters and our community hospitality shelters. For more information, contact Morgan Valentine (mvalentine@councilforthehomeless.org) for severe weather announcements and Iden Campbell (icampbell@councilforthehomeless.org) for the severe weather task force.
What the Task Force Does
The purpose of the Severe Weather Task Force is to assist our unhoused community members in finding shelter during severe weather events. When there is a severe weather event, Council for the Homeless will coordinate with Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA), Clark County, the City of Vancouver, and our community shelter partners to initiate the Homeless Response System to create as much shelter as possible for our unhoused community members. CFTH coordinates the Homeless Response System to ensure that we support and provide our unhoused community members’ safety and shelter from the heat, wildfire smoke, cold, and rain.
