Kate Middleton is unable to attend Trooping the Colour this year and wrote a personal letter to the Irish Guards (which they shared on Twitter) to apologize for missing out. The note is pretty brief, but the Princess of Wales did low-key hint at when she might be back in the spotlight.

After thanking everyone for their hard work, Kate wrote, "Please pass my apologies to the whole Regiment, however I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon."

It's not exactly specific, but people are definitely reading into the use of "very soon" as a hint that Kate may return to the spotlight earlier than expected. As Newsweek's chief royal correspondent Jack Royston put it to Sky News (via Express), "Now we shouldn't read too much into it, but it is an optimistic use of language. It might be tempting to think 'very soon' means she'll appear at Trooping the Colour this Saturday, that would certainly be very soon. I think that would also be a little bit presumptuous."

This update comes after royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that Kate is "tolerating" her preventative chemotherapy better and has been "out and about."

"I think she had a hard time in the beginning," Nicholl said. "These are strong drugs that she's on, but she's she's tolerating it better, and she's doing better. We've had reports from members of the public that she's been out and about. I've heard from certain people that...she's out with the children. That's a really positive sign."
