The Pay Yourself Back benefit ends Dec. 31, 2022.
Chase consumers with cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards®, like the Chase Freedom Flex℠, can continue to benefit from Pay Yourself Back redemptions. This feature allows you to redeem points for statement credits on eligible purchases, with up to 50% more value depending on the card you have.
Pay Yourself Back was originally launched in May 2020 amid the pandemic for Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve® members and it was meant to be a limited-time offer. However, Chase has continued to extend and adjust this redemption option.

Chase Sapphire Reserve
- Eligible categories: Gas stations, groceries, the card's annual fee and eligible charities.
- Extra value on Pay Yourself Back redemptions: Points are worth 25% more (1.25 cents each) for gas stations, groceries and the card's annual fee; Points are worth 50% more (1.5 cents each) for eligible charities.
Chase Sapphire Preferred
- Eligible categories: Gas stations, groceries and contributions made to eligible charities.
- Extra value on Pay Yourself Back redemptions: Points are worth 25% more (1.25 cents each) for charities and one cent each for gas stations and groceries (which is the standard cashback rate).
Chase Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited and Freedom
- Eligible purchases: Contributions made to eligible charities.
- Extra value on Pay Yourself Back redemptions: Points are worth 25% more (1.25 cents each).

United Airlines credit cards
- Eligible purchases: Annual fee
- Extra value on Pay Yourself Back redemptions: Miles are worth 1.5 cents each with the United℠ Business Card and United Club℠ Business Card, 1.52 cents with the United℠ Explorer Card, 1.6 cents with the United Quest℠ Card and 1.75 cents with the United Club℠ Infinite Card
