Alex Horton is a staff reporter at The Washington Post, where he covers national and breaking news with a focus on security and justice issues.

Previously, he was a national reporter at Stars and Stripes, worked at the community service nonprofit The Mission Continues and helped build the digital communications office at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Alex served as an Army infantryman for 15 months in Iraq, where his unit saw some of the heaviest fighting in Baghdad and Diyala province during the troop surge. He is a Georgetown University graduate and a native of North Texas, where he had a very brief career as a Zamboni driver.
