Everything We Know About the ‘I Love Lucy’-Themed Episode of ‘Will & Grace’

Looks like Classic TV fans have something to look forward to in the near future! That’s because Will & Grace — currently airing its final season of its successful revival —will be airing an I Love Lucy-themed episode in honor of the ’50s hit.

While I Love Lucy‘s stars are sadly no longer with us, the Will & Grace cast — Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes — are bringing Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance and William Frawley back to life again.

Taking a pop culture-fueled trip back in time is the perfect thing for Will & Grace to treat us with — especially since this is its final bow. Having originally aired for eight seasons between 1998 and 2005, the series was rebooted for three more seasons after a 2016 election special, bringing its total number of seasons to 11, beginning in 2017 and ending in 2020.

For the record, I Love Lucy ran for six seasons between 1951 and 1957 — though it lives on in reruns still to this day.

“The impact and legacy of Will & Grace simply can’t be overstated, both as a true game-changer in the portrayal of the LGBTQ community and as one of the finest comedies in television history,” NBC Entertainment co-chairmen George Cheeks and Paul Telegdy said of its “incredible run” in a press release, also calling the cast “second to none.”

Will & Grace‘s executive producers — Max Mutchnick, David Kohan and James Burrows — also chimed in about the end.

“They say you can’t go home again, but we did,” they said in a statement, adding that “we’re even more proud of something we never thought we’d get a chance to do again. We have had a once-in-a-lifetime experience twice.”

We honestly can’t wait to see Grace Adler, Will Truman, Karen Walker and Jack McFarland give us their take on Lucy Ricardo, Ricky Ricardo, Ethel Mertz and Fred Mertz. This is the sitcom crossover that we never knew we needed!
