Simon Cowell Adorably Admits His 5-Year-Old Son Inspires Him to Be Healthier: ‘I’m on the Eric Cowell Diet’

With summer right around the corner, Hollywood’s hottest celebs have been working their butts off to get beach-ready. The latest star to join the fitness club is Simon Cowell — but he revealed there’s a special force motivating him.

“New diet,” the 59-year-old told Extra when asked what his secret was. “I went to see this guy who’s very well known. And he said to me after doing some blood work, ‘You can’t have red meat, dairy, sugar, bread or gluten.’ I’m thinking, ‘What about alcohol?’ He said, ‘Maybe not quite as much as you had before.’ And I did it and I stuck to it and it’s easy.”

The former American Idol judge credited son Eric, 5, for having some inspiration-worthy eating habits. “Apart from ice cream, he actually likes water [and] eats all his raw vegetable,” Simon dished. “I’m on the Eric Cowell diet.”

It looks like the father-son duo inspire each other considering Simon once dished that his kiddo is already training to take over his music empire. “I’m getting him ready to do my job,” he said during an appearance on the U.K. morning show This Morning this past November.

This isn’t the first time that the America’s Got Talent judge has opened up about Eric’s future in the music industry. During a separate sit-down interview with Extra in late December, the music mogul revealed that he is eager to work on the popular talent show when he gets older. According to Simon, Eric always asks, “Daddy, when I’m older, can I work on AGT?” To which Simon replied, “No, you will be running AGT by the age of 18.” So cool!

The brown-haired hunk and his girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, welcomed Eric in 2014 after they began dating in 2013. Although he has had two very publicly tumultuous relationships, it looks like this family-of-three couldn’t be happier. In fact, they might be expanding their brood!

Earlier this year, an insider told Closer Weekly that Lauren is all about baby No. 2. “Lauren wants another baby,” the source said. “But Simon is happy with just one. He’s very conscious that he’s getting older, so whether Lauren can wear him down, who knows?”
