Larry King Was a Proud Dad — See the Late TV Star’s Cutest Photos With His Kids Over the Years

Larry King has shared tons of memories with his five kids over the years. Whether they were posing for photos on Hollywood red carpets or tagging along for a fun film premiere, the Larry King Live star couldn’t be more thankful for the bond he shares with his beloved children.

Larry was the loving father of his kids, Larry King Jr., Chance Armstrong King and Cannon Edward King, as well as his late children, Andy King and Chaia King. The Larry King Now host shared his big family with three of his seven ex-wives.

The iconic journalist became a father for the first time when he welcomed his eldest son, Larry Jr., alongside his then-wife, Annette Kaye, in 1961. Following their short-lived romance, Larry moved on with Alene Akins that same year and he adopted her son, Andy, not long after their marriage.

Larry and Alene split in 1963, but the two reunited years later after welcoming their daughter, Chaia, in 1969. The two tied the knot for a second time, but they went their separate ways less than three years later in 1972.

Although Larry didn’t give up in the love department, it would be almost three decades before he added any more babies to his brood. However, that all changed when he met his most recent wife, Shawn King, in 1997. The couple completed the broadcaster’s family with the birth of their son Chance in 1999, followed by son Cannon in 2000.

Throughout the years of his legendary career, fans got to see many sweet glimpses inside Larry’s life as a dad. The entertainment mogul’s kiddos often accompanied their famous father at Hollywood events and outings, as well as appeared on their dad’s hit TV shows.

Tragically, Larry suffered a heartbreaking loss when his son Andy and daughter Chaia died just weeks apart from each other in August 2020. The doting dad confirmed the devastating news in an emotional Instagram post.

“It is with sadness and a father’s broken heart that I confirm the recent loss of two of my children, Andy King and Chaia King. Both of them were good and kind souls and they will be greatly missed,” he penned alongside sweet throwback photos of the family.

“Andy passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on July 28th, and Chaia passed on August 20th, only a short time after having been diagnosed with lung cancer,” he explained. “Losing them feels so out of order. No parent should have to bury a child.”

Another tragedy struck the King family when Larry died on January 23, 2021. The legend passed at 87 years old after being hospitalized for COVID-19 earlier that month. “With profound sadness, Ora Media announces the death of our co-founder, host, and friend Larry King, who passed away this morning at age 87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles,” King’s official Twitter announced.
