Florida women accused of street racing twice the speed limit with children in car

Both women face charges of child neglect and highway racing

OCALA, Fla. – Two Florida women were arrested last week after a street race in Ocala, according to the police department.

In a release, police said the incident happened on Friday around 1:50 a.m. near the 3100 block of SW College Road.

An officer there spotted two sedans — a Cadillac and a Toyota — racing west along the highway at around 93 mph, the release shows. The speed limit in that area is only 45 mph.

The officer eventually caught up to the two cars and pulled the Cadillac over near the 3800 block of SW College Road, police said.

According to the release, the Cadillac driver was Jamirria Blunt, 22, and she had a 15-year-old in the front passenger seat.

The Toyota was also pulled over. Police said the driver was Kiara Johnson, 22, who had an 8-month-old child in a rear-facing car seat, the release states.

Investigators said the two women were arrested, and they both face charges of child neglect and highway racing.
