Port Orange officer hit by stolen vehicle

A patrol vehicle was also struck

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A person trying to get away in a stolen car hit a Port Orange police officer Friday afternoon.

Police located the stolen vehicle at the Sunrise Pointe Apartments on Richel Drive, according to a post on social media.

When officers tried to stop the vehicle the suspect drove off, striking an officer, police said. Another officer’s patrol car was also hit.

The driver bailed out of the car along Clyde Morris Boulevard near Madeline Avenue, according to the post. Officers said he tried to run but was quickly captured.

All of the officers are expected to be OK.
