$5K reward offered to help find man who beat, sexually battered 91-year-old in Marion County

Woman attacked in Reddick

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a man who broke into a 91-year-old woman’s home, beat her and sexually battered her, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The attack happened Sunday around midnight in Reddick. The sheriff’s office made a Facebook post Friday morning announcing the reward for information.

“To live this long on the Earth in peace and quiet and a long-time resident here. This is shocking, shocking to that whole community,” Lt. Paul Bloom said.

Deputies said the woman woke up to the man “sneaking through her home.” She was then beaten and sexually battered.

“As my detectives continue to work tirelessly to identify this individual and process the evidence, we must unite to protect our most vulnerable citizens. If you know someone who lives alone, ensure their doors are locked, help them install security cameras, and check in on them,” sheriff’s officials wrote on Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to call 352-732-9111.
