Elderly woman beaten, sexually battered after man snuck into her Florida home, sheriff says

Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods calls attack ‘cruel act of violence’

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – An elderly woman was beaten and sexually battered over the weekend after a man snuck into her Reddick home, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

In a news release, Sheriff Billy Woods announced that the attack happened early Sunday.

Woods added that the woman was awoken and found the man sneaking through her house, and she was ultimately beaten and sexually battered “in a cruel act of violence.”

The woman’s condition has not been released.

Detectives are seeking clues in the attack, including information about the culprit.

“My fellow Reddick citizens: If you saw anything suspicious or noticed anything unusual on your security cameras, please call 352-732-9111 to report it,” the release stated.

In addition, the MCSO offered the following advice to anyone who knows a person living alone:

  • Ensure their doors are locked.
  • Help them install security cameras.
  • Check in on them.
