According to the Daytona Beach Police Department, the child’s father called 911 around 12:45 p.m. after he found the child unresponsive in the tub.

An arrest affidavit shows the child had gotten dirty after playing with potted plants, and an argument ensued between Mustafa and the child’s father.

Mustafa took the child into the bathroom and locked the door, the affidavit reads. The father tried getting into the bathroom, and the two then argued over opening the door, according to the report.

When Mustafa unlocked the door, the father saw the child unconscious in the tub, which was half-filled with water, according to the affidavit.

The father performed CPR and the toddler was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, police said.

During an interview with police, Mustafa said she held the child’s head underwater for “no more than one minute,” the affidavit reads.

Mustafa faces a charge of cruelty toward a child-aggravated child abuse.
