Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.

ESPN reports the former No. 1 overall pick has agreed to a 5-year, $224 million maximum rookie extension, that could be worth up to $269 million.

It was reported last week that the Pistons were offering Cunningham the extension, but the agreement was made on Tuesday, according to ESPN.

Cunningham, 22, averaged 22.7 points, and 7.5 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game last season, and shot close to 40% from three in the back half of the year.

The deal locks in the cornerstone of the franchise as new team president Trajan Langdon reworks the roster and coaching staff.

The Pistons have made improving shooting a big focus this offseason, bringing in Tobias Harris, Malik Beasley and resigning Simone Fontecchio, all threats from beyond the three-point line.

The Pistons also have a new head coach, J.B. Bickerstaff, who will look to develop the young core of the team further along.

The Pistons finished last season with just 14 wins, the lowest in franchise history.
