1 killed, others hurt when semi truck crosses I-75 median in construction zone, hits cars

LA SALLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – One person was killed and others were injured when a semi truck crossed the median in a construction zone on I-75 and crashed into multiple cars heading in the other direction.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024, on I-75 near South Otter Creek Road in Monroe County.

Officials said a semi truck was heading south on the freeway when it crossed through the center median barrier in a construction zone.

It struck multiple other vehicles in the northbound lanes of I-75, police said.

At least one person was killed, officials said. Multiple others were injured.

No workers were in the construction zone at the time of the crash.

Both directions of I-75 have been shut down while officials investigate.

Michigan State Police are handling the investigation.
