TRAFFIC ALERT: Several vehicle accidents reported across Houston area freeways during Friday morning storms

HOUSTON – Traffic is stacking up across the Houston area freeways after severe thunderstorms rolled through Southeast Texas Friday morning.

At least six crashes have been reported as of 9:39 a.m.

Houston TranStar is reporting the following crashes:

  • A three-vehicle crash shut down all mainlanes on I-10 East westbound before Mercury Drive. The crash was reported at 9:19 a.m.
  • A two-vehicle crash involving a heavy truck has caused a hazmat spill and closed at least two lanes on IH-69 northbound at Reading Road in Fort Bend County. The crash was reported at 7:14 a.m.
  • A one-vehicle crash closed the left shoulder on the Gulf Freeway southbound at SH-3 and Monroe Road. The crash was reported at 9:39 a.m.
  • A two vehicle crash closed two lanes on 610 South Loop westbound at Long Drive. The crash was reported at 8:38 a.m.
  • A two-vehicle crash closed at least three lanes on the Gulf Freeway at Telephone Road. The crash was reported at 9:43 a.m.
  • A two-vehicle crash closed at least three lanes on the Eastex Freeway northbound at 610 North Loop. The crash was reported at 7:41 a.m.
  • A two-vehicle crash closed at least three lanes on the Eastex Freeway northbound at Parker Road. The crash was cleared at 9:21 a.m.
  • A one-vehicle crash closed at least three lanes on 290 Northwest eastbound after Hegar. The crash was reported at 9:30 a.m.
  • A one-vehicle crash closed two lanes on 290 Northwest eastbound at Mueschke. The crash was reported at 10:01 a.m.

The cause of these crashes has not been released. It is unknown if any injuries have been reported.
