Grandmother killed after tree crashes through northwest Houston roof has been identified

Severe weather from Hurricane Beryl Monday morning led to a fatal incident in northwest Houston, where a woman died when a tree fell onto her house.

According to Constable Deputies from Harris County Precinct 4, a caller reported that a tree had fallen through the roof of her grandmother’s room on the 17400 block of Rustic Canyon Trail.

The 74-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. She has been identified as Maria De La Luz Loredo.

Authorities are continuing their investigation at the scene. Residents are advised to avoid the area if possible. This is the second incident, so far, that KPRC 2 has reported on related to a tree damaging a home after two men were trapped inside their home in southeast Houston.
