The company put the severe weather protocol in place on Monday morning and said operations would be suspended until at least 9:00 A.M. CT on Tuesday, July 9.

“This is a potentially dangerous situation, so we’re activating our Severe Weather Protocol to help keep our community in Houston safe,” said Julian Crowley, a spokesperson for DoorDash.

The hurricane caused intense hazardous conditions across much of Southeast Texas, including street flooding and strong winds.

DoorDash said it would like to express gratitude to its Dashers, merchants, and customers for their understanding during this challenging period and emphasized its commitment to resuming operations once it is safe.

The company says it will continue to monitor the situation closely, following guidance from local officials.
