Baby found abandoned on walking trail released from hospital, taken in by foster family

KATY, Texas – The infant that was found abandoned on a walking trail near a bayou last week has been discharged from a Houston-area hospital and placed with foster parents.

Melissa Lanford, a spokesperson for Texas Department of Family and Parent Services, confirmed that the baby was released from Houston Memorial West at around 8 p.m. Friday evening.

She has been placed with foster parents who will provide a safe and loving home for her.

Caseworkers with Child Protective Services and the foster family decided on a name for the baby girl: Emmelie Grace.
