William Jackson “Bill” Toler, 95, died on Saturday, June 22 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will take place at All Saints Episcopal Church in Inverness on Wednesday, June 26 at 10am with the funeral to follow at 11am. A burial will take place immediately following the funeral in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.

Bill was born on February 3, 1929 in Inverness, MS to Mittie Walne Pack Toler and Norwood Street Toler. Bill was a graduate of Inverness High School in 1946 and continued his education at the University of Mississippi where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in Business Administration. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Bill married his college sweetheart, Helen Burnside Toler on September 23, 1950 and were married for 67 years.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Inverness and returned to Inverness after serving in the United States Air Force. He farmed for over 27 years and in 1979 established Toler Real Estate where he was a real estate broker and appraiser. He worked until a month before his death and was known throughout the Delta as an expert in his field. He loved people and making connections through his work.

He was devoted to his church, All Saints Episcopal Church, where he served in many capacities including Senior Warden, treasurer, and lay reader for over 50 years. He was actively involved in the Inverness community his entire life having served as President of the Inverness Recreational Association, a member of the Inverness Chamber of Commerce where he served as President, and a member of the Inverness Rotary Club where he also served as President. Bill received the Citizen of the Year award given by the Inverness Chamber of Commerce in 2016.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Helen Burnside Toler. His parents, Mittie Walne Pack Toler and Norwood Street Toler, his brother, Norwood Street Toler Jr., and his son-in-law, George Erwin “Win” Roulhac III.

He is survived by his daughters Allyn Toler Roulhac of Greenville and Susan Toler of Brandon, granddaughter Mary Allyn Roulhac Hedges (Stephen) of Oxford and great grandchildren James and McLain Hedges of Oxford. He is also survived by his brother Ken (Sandra) Toler of Ridgeland and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
