Nick Senzel hit a memorable home run for the Cincinnati Reds on July 6, 2023. Tied at 3 with the Washington Nationals in the top of the 10th, Senzel's two-run homer off of Hunter Harvey gave Cincinnati a 5-3 lead in a game the Reds won 5-4.

Senzel, who signed a one-year deal with the Nats last December, was designated for assignment by Washington on Saturday, exactly one year after that homer.

Senzel, who was expected to start the Nats' Opening Day game against the Reds at Great American Ball Park, broke his thumb before the game started.

Senzel played five seasons for the Reds, with a career-high 420 plate appearances in 2022. He batted .239 with 33 homers for the Reds between 2019 and 2023.

Senzel turned 29 on June 29. The Reds made him the second overall pick in the 2016 MLB draft out of University of Tennessee.
