The book contains 232 essays written by Xi Jinping for a column in the local newspaper Zhejiang Daily between February 2003 and March 2007, when he served as secretary of the Communist Party of China provincial committee of the eastern province Zhejiang.
The book systematically reflects the origin and development process of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
Unadorned, insightful and clear, these articles reflect his thoughts on adhering to a people-centered approach, promoting scientific development, seeking truth and innovation and enabling clean governance, as well as the need for virtue among officials.
First published in August 2007, the Chinese version of the book was reprinted in November 2013. Multiple language editions of the book are now jointly published by the Foreign Languages Press and Zhejiang People's Publishing House.
