Volunteers are being sought to work at the Scarecrow Festival in St. Charles set for Oct. 8 to 10.

The 36th annual Scarecrow Festival will feature hand-made scarecrows displayed throughout downtown St. Charles, a family zone in Lincoln Park with live entertainment, a photo op area and more. Also included is the Autumn on the Fox Arts and Crafts Show at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles, organizers said.

Volunteers will be needed to help work the two informations booths, one in Lincoln Park and the other at the municipal building. Volunteers can sign up on the event’s SignUpGenius page at www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d49acaa2ba3fdcf8-scarecrow1 for various two- to three-hour slots throughout the weekend.

There will also be a need for volunteers to assist with the clean-up at the festival from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 10.

Volunteers can sign up until Friday, Oct. 1.

Questions about volunteering for the event can be emailed to Hayley Kahle at hkahle@stcalliance.org.

Habitat restoration event set in Sugar Grove

A habitat restoration work day will be held at Bliss Woods Forest Preserve in Sugar Grove from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Honeysuckle and other invasive woody plants will be targeted for removal in addition to seed collecting and dispersal, organizers said. Tools will be provided but volunteers can also bring their own tools to the event.

Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of Templo Belen at 42W635 Kedeka Road in Sugar Grove.

Refreshments will be available during a break, according to organizers. Anyone under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult to take part in the event.
