The Niles Fire Department is partnering with the Cook County Department of Public Health to offer a mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinic during the fire department’s upcoming Open House.
Vaccines will be administered on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at Niles Fire Station 2, Dempster Street and Cumberland Ave., the village of Niles said.
No appointments are needed, according to the village. The brand of the COVID-19 vaccine that will be administered was not immediately announced.
“We hope that this easy and visible opportunity will inspire more Niles residents to partake in the COVID-19 vaccination effort,” a statement from the village said.
The clinic is open to anyone and is not restricted to Niles residents, said Mitch Johnson, spokesman for the village of Niles.
COVID-19 vaccines are currently approved for those 12 years old and over.
According to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 64.6% of Niles residents, or 19,216 people, are fully vaccinated.
In neighboring Park Ridge, 69% of the population is fully vaccinated and in Morton Grove, 73.4% is fully vaccinated, according to the IDPH.
In addition to the vaccine clinic, the Niles Fire Department Open House, held from 9 a.m. to noon, will feature live demonstrations, informational tables, an obstacle course for children, a raffle, and a chance to win a ride in a fire engine, according to the fire department.
