Home invasion
On Sept. 3 at about 5 p.m., a woman living in the 1600 block of 73rd Court reported that she returned home after visiting her son, left the back door open momentarily and a man entered through it. He asked about flooding in her basement and she told him she didn’t have a problem with flooding. She found a second man rifling through drawers in her dining room and threatened to call police. They both left. She found cash missing from a drawer.
Incident
On Sept. 5 about 11:45 p.m., someone reported they heard five shots fired in the 7700 block of Belmont Avenue.
River Grove
William C. Garner, 39, of Davisson Street, River Grove, was charged Sept. 14 with domestic battery, police said. His court date was scheduled for Sept. 23.
An Uber driver discovered Sept. 13 that the credit card of his passenger did not go through, so he pulled over at the Shell gas station on 1st and Thatcher to ask for payment in cash. Instead of paying, police said, the passenger observed someone exit their 2006 white Jeep Liberty and leave it running, and the passenger left the Uber, hopped into the Jeep and drove off with it.
A catalytic converter was stolen from a Mitsubishi Outlander in the 2500 block of Erie.
