COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 6.10.24

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 6.10.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Leaders Network Community Meeting – 6.11.24
COPA attended this month’s Leaders Network Meeting on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Columbus Park Refectory. Faith-based leaders and community stakeholders came together for this meeting to discuss the best ways to better serve the West Side of Chicago through community action and collaboration.

Mobile City Hall at Ping Tom Memorial Park – 6.12.24
COPA joined the City Clerk Office, 11th Ward Alderwoman Nicole Lee along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this mobile outreach event held in the Bridgeport community, COPA had a resource table and shared with the public the agency’s role in police accountability.

Belmont-Cragin Neighborhood Resource Fair – 6.13.24
COPA attended the Belmont-Cragin Neighborhood Resource Fair coordinated by Boulevard Insurance Services. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency’s role in police misconduct. This event also included many community resources, activities for children, food, and giveaways.

Kelvyn Park Job Fair – 6.14.24
COPA attended the Kelvyn Park Job Fair in the Hermosa neighborhood on June 14, 2024. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table to share with residents in this area our agency mission, help them understand the importance of police oversight, and inform them of job openings we currently have available.

Austin Juneteenth West Fest – 6.15.24
COPA had a great time attending the Austin Juneteenth West Fest 2024 held at Columbus Park. This event was filled with live music, family activities, sports, games, food, and many community resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table to help residents in this area understand our role in police accountability.

5th Annual Juneteenth Family Festival – 6.15.24
COPA had a great time attending the 5TH Annual Juneteenth Family Festival held in the Beverly/Morgan Park community area. Onsite at this event were various community organizations distributing information on services, programs, and resources for families. COPA was able to share information with the public about our role in police accountability.

Mr. Dad’s Fathers March 2024 – 6.15.24
COPA had a great time attending Mr. Dad’s Father’s March held in Ogden Park. This event held during Father’s Day weekend included music, carnival games, bounce houses, food, and community resources. COPA was able to share with families our role in police reform.

Mobile City Hall at Homan Square Park – 6.15.24
COPA was able to talk to residents in the North Lawndale community at the Mobile City Hall event. The Clerk’s Office along with various other city departments and sister agencies was also present and provided the community with valuable city resources. While at this event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and share with the public the agency’s role in police reform.
