Preschool For All Expansion (PFAE)

The NIU Preschool for All Expansion (PFAE) program provides free preschool to eligible children of DeKalb residents and NIU students. Funded by the Illinois State Board of Education, the program focuses on children’s social, emotional and academic development to help prepare them for kindergarten. It also helps connect families with university and community resources.

The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Eligibility and Enrollment

To participate, children must be 4 years old by September 1 of the program year. To get started, fill out a screening form to help us determine if the program is an option for your family.
