Just Eat plans to switch UK corporate sales fleet to EVs by 2025

Just Eat is set to replace its UK corporate sales fleet with electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025 while the global transition is expected by 2030.

During the first stages, the 175-strong diesel vehicle fleet will be replaced by fully electric Cupra Born and Volkswagen ID.3 vehicles, reducing carbon emissions up to 480 tonnes per year.

The first 12 EVs, chosen due to their long ranges and advanced driver technology, are already in operation.

Sales team representatives will use the vehicles to visit prospective restaurant and grocery partners, as well as support existing partners on the platform. Considering the high number of UK partnerships (68,000 restaurants and groceries), Just Eat will have to carefully choose the EVs that satisfy a wide range of requirements.

Leigh Phillipson, Just Eat UK sales director, said: “Our sales team is committed to providing services to restaurant partners up and down the UK and by replacing all our vehicles with electric vehicles, we are further reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting our environment for future generations.”

The initiative is part of Just Eat’s net zero target for direct operations.

John Lewis is also planning to replace its home fleet with electric vehicles as it aims to transition 4,000 cars, vans and light trucks to EVs by 2030.

Amazon also set its target for 2030: it now has 1,000 Rivian’s electric vehicles making deliveries across the US, with the plans to expand the fleet to 100,000 units in seven years.
