CGIAR Science Week: Innovation and partnerships for a food, nutrition, and climate secure-future

We’re excited to announce a new date for CGIAR Science Week! The event will now take place from April 7-12, 2025. As originally planned, the event will be co-hosted by the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) and will take place at the UN Campus in Nairobi, Kenya. We apologize for any inconvenience the postponement may have caused and greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

We’ll be bringing together an exciting program including plenary sessions with global leaders in agriculture, food systems, and climate science. Discover CGIAR’s cutting-edge science and innovations that have transformed the lives of hundreds of millions of people in our exhibition area. We know you’re excited to participate in field visits to CGIAR and partner facilities to see our science in action. This will also be an occasion to explore and engage with our 202530 Research Portfolio.

When humanity has faced its greatest challenges, science and innovation have provided solutions. Today, major and connected global challenges threaten the sustainability of food, land, and water systems, with the most vulnerable people and communities at greatest risk.

Recognizing the urgency of these challenges, CGIAR and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) are convening the world’s leading scientists and decision-makers at the intersection of agriculture, climate, and health for an inaugural CGIAR Science Week. The gathering will inspire action and investment in sustainable food systems that nourish both people and the planet. The new CGIAR 2025-30 Research Portfolio is being shaped to address the biggest challenges and opportunities of our time, and Science Week will be an opportunity to engage with and learn more about the Portfolio and to establish critical partnerships.

Drawing on CGIAR science and partnerships from around the world, CGIAR Science Week brings together the community working for a food, nutrition, and climate secure future to:

  • Hear from global leaders in research, policy, and development about how we can harness and scale science and innovation during our Plenary sessions.
  • Discover the best of our science during an exciting program of Science Talks, Innovation Showcase, and Research Workshops.
  • Experience game-changing innovations that are improving the lives of producers and consumers around the world in our Exhibition Area.
  • See science in action during our Field Visits to CGIAR and partner labs and research stations.
  • Explore and engage with our 2025-30 Research Portfolio.
