Volunteer at The LGBTQ Center Long Beach to engage, empower and advocate towards achieving a more equitable society and fostering an ever-improving quality of life for the LGBTQ community. Whether you have a little time to give or a lot, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference!

Front Desk Volunteering

If you have time each week and want to serve the community, consider volunteering at our front desk! This role is ideal for outgoing individuals who enjoy helping others and connecting them to resources. A 6-month commitment and background check are required. Interested? Fill out the form below.

Library Volunteering

We are reorganizing our LGBTQ+ library and need detail-oriented, semi-computer-savvy volunteers. Tasks include navigating an online catalog, tagging books, and performing repetitive, thorough work independently. This is a consistent weekly opportunity. Interested? Fill out the application below.

Youth & Family Services Volunteer Opportunities

Currently, there are no openings in weekly YFS groups, but if you’re passionate about supporting queer youth, consider volunteering for YFS events and field trips. A 4-month commitment and background check are required. Interested? Fill out the form below.

Special Events & Projects

Want to help out occasionally? Special Event Volunteering is perfect for you! From large events like Q-Films and The Black and White Gala to smaller ones like our Gender Affirming Closets, you can sign up for events that fit your schedule. No long-term commitment required. FAQs

Mandated community service hours & required volunteer hours for school

We regret to inform you that we are unable to accommodate court-mandated community service at this time. Additionally, please note that fulfilling the volunteer hour requirements for most schools exceeds what can typically be achieved within one semester at our Center.

We do not have opportunities for large groups of volunteers at this time.

Currently, we are unable to accept any volunteers under the age of 18.

The Mental Health Department internships are separate from the volunteer department, feel free to look into that here [link]. We do not currently have opportunities for clinical hours within our health services department.
