ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - CBS7 FIRST ALERT Forecast for Saturday, July 6th, 2024: It was a pleasant day across the region Friday with highs topping out right around normal for many thanks to a cold front that pushed across the region. The cold front also fueled some showers and thunderstorms across the region as it made it’s way south/southwest.

Overnight, temperatures will cool into the 60s and 70s for most. It’ll be pleasant overnight heading into Saturday even though isolated thunderstorms remain possible. Saturday will be very similar to conditions seen on Friday with highs right around normal for this time of year and rain chances later in the day. Highs will be in the 90s for the majority with a few triple digits along the Rio Grande. Midland is looking to reach a high of 91 degrees while Odessa is looking to reach a high of 92 degrees. Winds through the day will be light, between 5 and 10 miles per hour. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible once again in the afternoon and evening hours with the potential for isolated strong to severe thunderstorms in southeast New Mexico. Large hail and strong winds will be the threats for this area.

Conditions dry out and warm up on Sunday where many areas will warm back into the triple digits, but this won’t last long as another cold front moves through the region on Monday. This cold front will drop temperatures back near-normal and usher in the potential for rain once again. The “coolest” day of the extended forecast looks to be on Tuesday with highs in the 80s and 90s across the region. Slight rain chances remain through the majority of the extended forecast. Rainfall accumulations as of now look to remain on the low end.
