ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) -If you’re looking for something to do to escape the summer heat.

The Ellen Noel Arts Museum has a new exhibit called the “perfect shot”.

It displays the work of legendary sports photographer Walter Iooss Jr.

Walter Iooss Jr is a legendary sports photographer in the world of sports.

The Perfect Shot exhibit takes visitors through some of the most inspiring moments in sports history.

It highlights the craft and talent that transformed these moments into art.

“They will be able to recognize the moment in sport and say I was at that game, or I remember seeing that on TV or that athlete passed away recently. I want that photo taken with this because this is a piece of history, so it is amazing to bring that sports history all around here in Odessa,” said Ellen Noel Arts Museum Marketing Manager Kiana Jaber-Ansari.

The Perfect Shot exhibit is on a five-year tour across the United States.

Odessa is the first city in the US to host it.

“It’s kind of a moment of pride for us to host this first and set the standard for what this exhibit will experience as it travels around the country. we will hopefully be the beacon and set the precedent for the whole tour of this exhibit,” said Kiana Jaber-Ansari.

Walter Iooss jr images have appeared on over three hundred covers of Sports-Illustrated magazines more than any other photographer in the world.

The exhibit is organized into five sections of universal emotions: anticipation, perseverance, triumph, disappointment, and reflection.

“What it exemplifies is the emotions that are captured within sports photography. This exhibit will take us through five different emotions and it takes you in an exploration of humanity in sports and then the sports in action moments simultaneously,” said Associate Curator of Ellen Noel Arts Museum Colton Machester.

Walter Iooss Jr had the opportunity to work with some of the greatest athletes in the last six decades.

The Ellen Noel Arts Museum wants to honor the impact that he made and show that he is more than just a sports photographer.

“He understood how to speak to players and often talks about players being coachable and if you are into sports photography then you have to be willing to be their coach and he has a wonderful story about photographing a story with Michael Jordan and just being a personal level with the athletes and considering them as subjects but people and I think made a big difference,” said Colton Manchester.

The Perfect Shot will be available at the museum until August Eleventh.
