CASA of West Texas expands to serve 10 counties

PECOS/REEVES/BREWSTER COUNTIES, Texas (KOSA) - CASA of West Texas announced an expansion of services to Pecos County, Reeves County and Brewster County.
According to the nonprofit, there were about 50 children in these counties last year that qualified for CASA services.
Executive Director Patty Pisklak said in a statement, “It is a bigger challenge serving a larger area, but I am confident in our team at CASA of West Texas. We will continue to provide quality advocacy for every child in our new and current service area.”
CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocate’s mission is to provide volunteers who provide quality advocacy for children experiencing the foster care system
The nonprofit now serves the following 10 counties:
- Midland County
- Howard County
- Dawson County
- Gaines County
- Andrews County
- Martin County
- Glasscock County
- Pecos County
- Reeves County
- Brewster County
CASAs are appointed by judges to serve the “best interest” of the child. Court Appointed Special Advocate’s become acquainted with every aspect of the child’s life, talking to parents, teachers, physicians, counselors, etc. to help determine what the best long-term placement for the child is.
